Ariel Glaser Pediatric AIDS Healthcare Initiative (AGPAHI) aims to improve the health of children and families in Tanzania including prevention and elimination of pediatric HIV/AIDS by working in partnership to create and implement sustainable healthcare programs. Several decentralized databases are used to capture data for various services provided by AGPAHI. As number of centers is growing, management of these databases is becoming cumbersome and AGPAHI started to look for an effective way that will improve data management and analysis.
WS Technology reviewed AGPAHI Database System requirements and involved relevant stakeholders. Following system review, Joint Application Design (JAD) session was carried out and included AGPAHI’s Data Management and MIS teams.
WS Technology developed centralized Database which integrated all AGPAHI decentralized databases. This new architecture allows AGPAHI centers to submit data securely to a central database through Virtual Private Network (VPN) and data analysis can be carried out immediately from the Head Office in Dar Es Salaam. This solution has given AGPAHI staff more time to analyze data and reduced time and costs used to travel to upcountry centers.
